In the Parkinson's Patient / Care Giver relationship it is natural to focus on the patient's well being. However, as the disease progresses, the responsibilities of the Care Giver increase, together with the physical strains and the psychological stresses. The well being of both the Patient and the Care Giver depend upon the Care Givers' responses.
Our Support recognizes the special burdens carried by the Care Givers and provides a number of important and valuable Care Giver Services. These Services include:
Breakout Sessions at our monthly meetings where Care Givers can exchange ideas.
Care Giver education services to help them understand the current situation,
anticipate how it will progress, physically, mentally, legally, and
medically and how to confront it.
Care Giver support services provide direct assistance in the execution
of care giving responsibilities.
Respite Care gives the Care Giver short but valuable breaks from the
care giving routine in which to reconnect with non-Parkinson's aspects
of life and, therein, relax and rejuvenate.
